Following the direction of the Holy Spirit, Pastor James R. Flint, Jr. accepted the call to ministry in November of 1994. He preached his first sermon on February 5th, 1995 at Union Evangelistic Baptist Church in Chicago Heights, IL, under the leadership of his father and Pastor Rev. Dr. James R. Flint, Sr..
In 2000, he graduated from Arkansas Baptist College with a B. A. in Theology. God further blessed him to become a graduate from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master’s of Divinity in spring 2006. Pastor Flint has also been able to accomplish postgraduate work in the areas of Christian Ministry and Education. He’s been the recipient of numerous accolades including an honorary Doctorate, numerous certifications and awards both locally and nationally.
Pastor Flint has served various ministries in a number of capacities of leadership. Before accepting the call to become a Senior Pastor he was in service as the Assistant Pastor of Union Evangelistic Baptist Church (his home church). It was with great joy and anticipation, in September of 2008, Pastor Flint accepted the call to become the senior Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church of Chicago. He has served as the 1st Vice President of the Greater New Era Baptist District Association Congress of Christian Education, and now serves as President of this great Congress.
Under his leadership, Calvary Baptist Church has begun to experience significant numerical growth, and Spiritual renewal. Pastor Flint has a dynamic gift of preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, coupled with an anointing in the area of Praise and Worship. His ministry has touched the lives of many and continues to grow as he avails himself to God’s Leadership and Authority.
In Pastor Flint’s short journey, he has been privileged to minister both nationally and internationally, and is humbled by God’s favor. One of his philosophy’s is, “Faithfulness honors God, and God honors faithfulness.”
Pastor Flint is married to the former Thursday Martin, and they have two children: daughter, Savannah Grace and son, James, III.
